Kee joins Ballinamallard United on loan

COLERAINE FC can confirm that midfielder David Kee has joined Ballinamallard United on loan for the remainder of the season…

The 29-year-old joined the club in August 2016 on a season long-loan from Linfield and was appointed club captain, before making the move permanent in July.

Kee was unable to play in last season’s Irish Cup final and sustained a knee injury before pre-season. He managed to play 39 games for the Bannsiders, but has now joined his former club as they aim to avoid relegation.

Coleraine boss Oran Kearney wished Kee well and admits the midfielder was a great influence in the changing room.

“David was a model professional and a great player for us during his 18 months at the club,” Kearney said.

“Unfortunately, he suffered an injury and missed pre-season but with the form we are in, I can’t give him five or six matches to get back up to speed.

“At his age he needs to be playing football and I know his leadership qualities will be a major asset for Gavin Dykes and Ballinamallard.

“A lot of question marks were raised when we appointed him captain, but he was great with all the younger players and I know they in particular are grateful for all Keesy’s help and advice.

“We wish him all the best.”

The Club can confirm that Steven Douglas is the new club captain until the end of the season with a vice-captain to be confirmed in due course.
