Coleraine captain David Kee admits he is ‘delighted’ to have made his loan spell at the club into a permanent one-year deal.

The midfielder joined on an initial season-long loan deal from Linfield in August 2016, but this week penned a one-year contract to extend his stay on the Ballycastle Road.

“I am delighted to have signed on with the club again,” the former Ballinamallard United man said.

“I really enjoyed my time here last season and wanted it to continue.

“It was a successful season and hopefully we can build on it.”

The Castlederg man relished his first role as captain in senior football and admits everyone at the club deserves credit for how the Bannsiders secured European football and an Irish Cup final appearance.

“I really enjoyed being captain as it’s something I haven’t done since school,” the 28-year-old revealed.

“It helps when you’re winning the majority of games and it was one of the most enjoyable seasons of my time playing football.

“Everyone at the club makes this happen, not just the players.”

Kee has now challenged his team-mates to replicate last season’s success and make sure they go ‘all the way’ in the 2017-18 campaign.

“It was an unbelievable season finishing 3rd in the league and reaching the cup final,” Kee added.

“It was a disappointing end but we have to get up and at it again.

“Hopefully we can go all the way next season.”
