Kelly reflects on ‘mad’ evening

GRAHAM Kelly acknowledged last night’s victory against Ballymena United was one of the “maddest things” he’s ever been involved in…

The Bannsiders would secure their passage through to the quarter-final stage of the BetMcLean Cup after a mammoth 18-17 win on spot kicks at the Ballymena Showgrounds.

Kelly joked that the interview was taking place on Wednesday such was their exertions but the important thing was to reach the next round.

The summer recruit believes the Stripes “weren’t good enough” in the first-half but the game changed with the introduction of Lee Lynch and David McDaid at half-time.

Kelly scored twice in the shoot-out and insists he didn’t believe he would have to hit twice from 12 yards, as well as speaking ahead of Monday’s clash against Glentoran.
