Report:

COLERAINE and Cliftonville would play out their fourth consecutive 2-2 draw as Ronan Hale scored an injury time equaliser for the Reds.

The Bannsiders would take an early lead in north Belfast as Matthew Shevlin robbed Odhran Casey on the by-line and picked out Lyndon Kane. The Coleraine native let fly with a strike from distance that left Nathan Gartside with no chance for his first goal of the campaign.

Both teams would carve out chances thereafter as Rory Hale and Ryan Curran had sights of goal for the hosts, whilst Conor McKendry would see a free-kick hit the side netting at the other end.

Just before the half hour mark, Cliftonville would spurn a good chance to move level as Ronan Hale dispossessed Dean Jarvis inside the box but he was unable to send his strike on target. Minutes later, the Stripes would have the ball in the back of the net for a second time but McKendry’s effort was ruled out for offside.

As the game entered first-half stoppage time, the Reds would draw level as Ronan Hale was picked out by Chris Curran and the attacker let fly with a rasping effort that left Deane with no chance.

Paddy McLaughlin’s men made a bright start to the second-half and missed a trio of chances as Ryan Curran headed into the gloves of Deane, Ronan Hale’s half volley was also denied, before Rory Hale curled over the crossbar from distance.

However, Coleraine would regain their lead on the hour mark as a loose pass was picked upon by Jamie Glackin. The midfielder hit a well-timed pass for Andy Scott to latch onto and he buried his attempt.

The Reds went in search of an equaliser and it almost arrived on two separate occasions through substitutes as Deane palmed away Jamie McDonagh’s effort, with Joe Gormley’s shot across the goal mouth just missing a vital touch by the sliding David Parkhouse.

Just like the first-half, Cliftonville would score a late equaliser as Ronan Hale’s free-kick took a wicked deflection and left Deane with no chance as both teams had to settle for a point.
