COLERAINE currently have six players out on loan and here is a monthly round-up of how they’re getting on…

Cathair Friel is enjoying a short-term loan spell at Portadown, whilst Caiolan Brennan and Lewis Tosh are plying their trade at Limavady United for the season.

Similarly, Alexander Gawne is spending the season at Carrick Rangers alongside James McLaughlin, whilst Ronan Wilson is also at H&W Welders for the 2022/23 campaign.

CATHAIR FRIEL

The striker joined Portadown on loan in the January transfer window after completing a temporary spell at Institute.

Friel started all five of Portadown’s fixtures in February as Niall Currie’s side won two, drew one and lost two in all competitions.

Recent results have saw the Ports cut the gap on the teams above them in the Premiership standings.

CAIOLAN BRENNAN

Brennan is currently enjoying his second loan spell at Limavady United and played four times during the month of February.

Paul Owens side beat Dollingstown twice and drew with high flying Ballymacash Rangers, however, they were edged out by Bangor in the Premier Intermediate.

Limavady were also knocked out of the Intermediate Cup by East Belfast.

LEWIS TOSH

This is Lewis’ first season in senior football and he continues to gain valuable experience in the process.

Toshy started all five of Limavady’s games in all competitions.

The Roesiders currently sit fourth in the table – nine points behind third placed Ballymacash Rangers.

RONAN WILSON

Like January, Wilson was absent during the month of February through injury.

However, the Welders continued their good run of form as they won four games – including beating Glenavon in the Irish Cup, as well as drawing against Annagh United.

That surge of form has clawed the Welders up to fifth in the Championship table and they host Larne in the quarter-final of the Irish Cup.

ALEXANDER GAWNE

Carrick Rangers were in action four times during February – with Alex starting one, being a used sub in two and an unused substitute in another.

The Amber Army sealed wins against Ballymena United and Newry City but lost against Linfield and Larne.

Alex provided a lovely assist for Emmett McGuckin’s opening goal against Newry.

JAMES MCLAUGHLIN

James McLaughlin joined Carrick Rangers on loan until the end of the season in the January transfer window.

The striker has made four used substitute appearances and started in the 3-2 defeat against Larne.

Carrick are currently 8th in the Danske Bank Premiership standings.
