COLERAINE currently have five players out on loan and here is a monthly round-up of how they’re getting on…

Cathair Friel is enjoying a short-term loan spell at Institute, whilst Caiolan Brennan and Lewis Tosh are plying their trade at Limavady United for the season.

Similarly, Alexander Gawne is spending the season at Carrick Rangers whilst Ronan Wilson is also at H&W Welders for the 2022/23 campaign.

CATHAIR FRIEL

The striker has featured three times for Institute since joining in the middle of August.

‘Bushy’ started all of those contests and scored a penalty in a 3-3 draw away to Newingtown.

Institute have drawn two and lost two out of their four Championship games to date.

CAIOLAN BRENNAN

Brennan has started two games for Andy Law’s side since re-joining Limavady United on loan.

The winger featured in the 2-2 draw away to Moyola Park on the opening day of the season before also starting in last weekend’s 1-0 defeat to Bangor.

Limavady United also progressed to the second round of the Irish Cup courtesy of a forfeit.

LEWIS TOSH

Tosh also joined Limavady United on loan to gain some experience and he has made three appearances to date.

The left-sided player has featured in all three games from the bench against Maiden City (North-West Cup), Moyola Park (League) and Bangor (League).

United will play against Moyola Park in the quarter-final of the North-West Cup, Institute U20’s in the first round of the Craig Memorial Cup and Orangefield Old Boys in the second round of the Irish Cup.

RONAN WILSON

Wilson is currently playing in the Championship at H&W Welders and has started two games for the club.

The midfielder made his debut against Warrenpoint Town before starting in a derby day defeat to Dundela.

The Welders have since parted company with manager Gary Smyth.

ALEXANDER GAWNE

The move marked a fourth loan arrangement for Alex at Carrick Rangers and he has already banked some valuable game time.

Alex was ineligible for the meeting between the two clubs this month but the forward started in the opening day win against Newry City.

Gawne started the Amber Army’s narrow defeat to Cliftonville but was a used substitute as the Gers beat Linfield at the Loughshore Leisure Arena.
