Lyndon’s father Mark suffered a heart attack last year but has made a welcome recovery after receiving expert care from NHS staff.

Now, the 24-year-old footballer is embarking on the March 100 Mile Walking Challenge for Coleraine Coronary Care and Chest, Heart and Stroke Northern Ireland.

Amazingly, he had already raised £1,500 before starting the challenge on Monday, March 1.

“I’m blown away by the money raised already – almost £1,500 before March has even started,” he said on social media.

“I am planning to walk 100 miles with family and friends (socially distanced of course) to raise as much money as possible for these amazing charities.

“I would love to see many people joining in with walks of their own throughout this month.

“If anyone wants to join in, it would be great to see some pictures from your walks around your local area.

“In these pictures I would encourage people to make a heart symbol in any way possible.

“I have chosen these charities because last year my dad suffered a heart attack leaving him needing major heart surgery and spending 28 days in hospital.

“The care he received during this time was second to none and this is the reason I have chosen these charities.

“The work they do every day is incredible and I would love to be able to give something back to them.

“All donations are extremely welcome. Thanks in advance and hopefully I’ll see some of you out and about.”
