Lyons departs for Blackburn Rovers

COLERAINE Football Club can confirm that Brad Lyons has joined Blackburn Rovers on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee…

The midfielder’s move to Ewood Park was finally completed this afternoon and the Ballymoney man will join Tony Mowbray’s men who were recently promoted back to the English Championship.

The 21-year-old made his first-team debut against Institute in August 2014 and went on to make 119 appearances, scoring 19 times. He was a vital member of the Bannsiders squad that narrowly missed out on the Gibson Cup last season, but started in the Irish Cup victory against Cliftonville in May.

Speaking to colerainefc.com, boss Oran Kearney insists Lyons goes with the club’s best wishes.

“Since Brad arrived at the club, his progression and development has been phenomenal,” he said.

“We take a lot of pride in how he has gone about his business and his development from a boy into a man.

“It is a chance for Brad to live his dream and he goes with our best wishes. I’m sure we will all be secondary Blackburn fans and we will be watching his progress with great hope.

“We are over the moon and delighted for Brad to be given this opportunity.”
