Maiden goal pleases Kelly

COLERAINE TV caught up with Patrick Kelly after the midfielder scored his first goal for the club yesterday afternoon…

The teenager was in the right place at the right time to tap the ball home after he was expertly picked out by Curtis Allen.

The Portstewart native – who had gone close numerous times this season to break his duck – was full of joy in his post-match interview.

“I’m over the moon to be honest to have scored my first goal for Coleraine,” he said.

“I have been waiting on my first goal for a while so I’m just so glad to get it.

“Someone played a ball through to Curtis and I was free at the back post, he just cut it back and I couldn’t have had an easier goal, a tap-in.”

The Stripes would net three times in each half against Windmill Stars as they face Portadown next in the Danske Bank Premiership.

“It was about getting the first goal really and thankfully Glacks got the first goal and from there we started to dominate.

“We knew they would come and sit deep so it was about us trying to break them down and trying to score as many as we could.

“The goals had dried up a wee bit so it’s good to get six different goalscorers today.

“Hopefully builds come momentum for next week (Portadown) and hopefully we can get back to winning ways in the league.”
