Coleraine would make a return to winning ways as goals from Jamie Glackin, Conor McKendry and Josh Carson sealed a 3-1 derby day victory for the Stripes.

After McKendry and Shevlin would both go close, Coleraine would take the lead as Glackin was found inside the box by Conor McDermott, turned his marker and hit a crisp effort low into the bottom corner.

However, that lead would only last three minutes as Ballymena equalised. A long run forward by Robbie McVarnock allowed the ball to reach the path of Josh Kelly who hit a crisp effort beyond Gareth Deane.

A late flurry of first-half goals would continue as the Bannsiders regained the lead. A lovely weighted pass by Glackin found McKendry and the winger did the rest by lobbing the ball over an onrushing Jordan Williamson.

Deane would be called into action early in the second-half to thwart David McDaid with that save proving crucial as Coleraine went 3-1 ahead on 54 minutes. A cross into the box by Glackin met Carson at the front post who slotted into the net.

Ballymena would go close soon after as Stephen O’Donnell hit his own post with Jordan Gibson’s rebound forcing Conor McDermott to clear the ball off the line.

The final chance of the game would see Andy Scott hit the crossbar when one-on-one with the ‘keeper as the Stripes ran out worthy winners.
