Match Highlights vs Crusaders

HIGHLIGHTS from the Bannsiders’ win against Crusaders are now available to watch on the club’s official YouTube channel…

The Bannsiders would make it six successive wins in the Danske Bank Premiership as they recovered from a goal down to record a 2-1 victory against Stephen Baxter’s side at The Showgrounds.

The visitors would take the lead on 17 minutes as a clearance from Gareth Deane cannoned off the back of Stephen O’Donnell and into the path of Jamie McGonigle. The former Coleraine striker hit an instinctive effort into the bottom corner to register his third goal against his former employers. Minutes later, the ball presented itself to Paul Heatley inside the box but he failed to find the target.

Coleraine would find an equaliser on 31 minutes as Aaron Traynor’s cross found Lyndon Kane at the back post and his cut back was turned into the net by Curtis Allen. However, Crusaders almost regained the lead four minutes later as a defensive lapse allowed Heatley through on goal but Deane smothered his attempt.

The second-half started with Crusaders on the ascendancy as McGonigle would send two efforts wide of the goal, with Traynor’s cross at the other end just evading a vital touch from both Eoin Bradley and Allen. On 75 minutes, the North Belfast side thought they had taken the lead as Jordan Forysthe forced Deane into a smart save.

The winner would arrive on 89 minutes as David Cushley conceded a free-kick on the by-line. The set piece was delivered by Jamie Glackin and headed into the net by Lowry for his second goal in as many games.
