Coleraine would lift the famous competition for the seventh time in the club’s history following a 3-2 success against the Swifts in an action-packed contest at Windsor Park.
After surviving a few early scares, the Bannsiders made the breakthrough on 19 minutes when Lyndon Kane’s cross found its way to Matthew Shevlin and he pounced with a close range finish.
In truth, Ruaidhri Higgins’ men had goalkeeper Ryan Schofield to thank for several top-class saves before and after Shevlin’s opener and Coleraine made it 2-0 just a minute after the restart when Shevlin’s flicked header released Joel Cooper and he arrowed a low effort into the bottom corner.
However, Dungannon reduced the arrears to a single goal as Paul Doyle found the bottom corner but Coleraine regained their two-goal buffer as Shevlin showed his clinical edge yet again after Zane Okoro had a shot blocked.
Dungannon, who were the cup holders, kept fighting back as Andy Mitchell made it 3-2 with 20 minutes remaining but Coleraine held firm to make it a memorable day.
