Match Highlights vs Glenavon

HIGHLIGHTS from the Bannsiders’ draw against Glenavon are now available to watch on the club’s official YouTube channel…

Oran Kearney’s side would make it seventeen games unbeaten in the Danske Bank Premiership as Stephen Lowry’s strike earned the visitors a share of the spoils at Mourneview Park.

The Bannsiders would create the first chance of the evening as Matthew Shevlin struck wide from Curtis Allen’s through ball, before Glenavon threatened at the other end as Gareth Deane was called into action to save from Peter Campbell.

The lively Campbell would let fly with a half volley moments later but Coleraine would almost make the breakthrough as Josh Carson’s daisy cutter was forced around the post by Glenavon stopper Craig Hyland.

After Aaron Canning header over from a corner, the hosts nearly took the lead from a corner of their own as Campbell’s delivery was flicked goalwards by Danny Purkis but thankfully Jamie Glackin was there to clear the ball off the line.

However, the deadlock was broken on 52 minutes as a cross by Conor McCloskey found Campbell at the back post and he centred the ball for Matthew Fitzpatrick to score from close range. The visitors went in search for an equaliser and they missed a glorious opportunity on 65 minutes as Allen’s cross met Glackin inside the box but he was unable to guide his header into the net.

The Stripes would find the net on 76 minutes as the ball landed to the feet of Lowry and his dipping effort took a deflection and looped over Hyland. This sparked Kearney’s men into life as Hyland would deny McLaughlin before the ‘keeper would once again come to Glenavon’s rescue as he tipped Ian Parkhill’s header over the bar.
