Coleraine would reach the semi-final stage of the North-West Cup after edging a five-goal thriller at The Showgrounds.

The deadlock would be broken on 11 minutes as Luca Doherty, Aaron Jarvis and Jack O’Mahony combined to tee up Conor McKendry inside the box. The winger would evade several challenges before arrowing a strike into the bottom corner.

Midway through the half, Coleraine would threaten again as the ball was picked up on the right-hand side by McKendry, the speedster drove forward and threatened Gareth Muldoon from just inside the box.

On 50 minutes, the Stripes would add a second as McKendry was picked out inside the box and the Carnlough native had the vision and composure to dink the ball over the advancing Muldoon.

McKendry ensured that he would go home with the match ball on 66 minutes as he made it 3-0 as he would find space inside the box yet again and lashed a strike into the top corner.

However, Institute ensured there would be a grandstand finish to the contest as they netted two late goals through Jamie Dunne and Jack Coyle.
