HIGHLIGHTS from the Bannsiders’ defeat in the North-West Cup by Limavady United can now be viewed on the club’s official YouTube account…
The Stripes would be eliminated at the first hurdle as the Roesiders ran out 3-1 victors at the Coleraine Showgrounds.
Paul Owens’ side would make the breakthrough on 24 minutes as a clever pass by Joe McCready allowed John Butcher to burst through on goal and he slipped the ball into the back of the net.
After both teams would go close – including Butcher hitting the far post with a cross – the Bannsiders would equalise on the stroke of half-time as Senan Devine picked out the run of Andy Mitchell and the striker duly converted.
Coleraine started the second-half on the front foot and threatened on several occasions through Michael McCrudden and Jake Wallace, however, they would fall behind via a set piece as Matthew Walker headed in from a corner kick.
The job would be made even tougher as Kyle McCloskey was dismissed for a last man tackle on Ian Parkhill, with Ryan Doherty sealing a third for United with an unstoppable 25-yard effort.
To their credit, Coleraine ended the fixture strongly as Daniel Smyth saw an effort cleared off the line as Wallace saw a driven effort being palmed away by Paul Wells.
