Match Highlights vs Linfield

HIGHLIGHTS from the Bannsiders’ draw against Linfield are now available to watch on the club’s official YouTube channel…

The Bannsiders would make it ten games unbeaten as both defences were on top during a cagey affair at Windsor Park.

The first chance of the game would arrive on nine minutes as Ian Parkhill was unable to steer Stewart Nixon’s cross into a meaningful effort, before Nixon played through Matthew Shevlin but his strike deflected into the arms of Chris Johns.

In a first-half of little chances, Linfield would threaten twice before the break as Jordan Stewart cut in to his favoured right foot and hit a strike wide, with Niall Quinn also striking the outside of the post as the ball broke to the midfielder inside the box.

The Blues would carve out another opportunity on 53 minutes as Gareth Deane was called into action to tip Kyle McClean’s effort over the crossbar. However, Linfield would miss a glorious opportunity to take the lead on 79 minutes as Stewart’s cross was headed wide by Shayne Lavery from close range.

In a frantic end to proceedings, the Stripes would have one final chance of their own as Jamie Glackin burst into the box and squared the ball to Eoin Bradley. Just when it looked like the striker would burst the back of the net, he failed to get his feet positioned instantly, and his shot was saved by Johns.
