Coleraine responded from back-to-back defeats as Joel Cooper, Jamie McGonigle and Will Patching all netted in the 3-1 success against the Blues.

Ruaidhri Higgins’ men made a bright start to proceedings and threatened with just three minutes on the clock when Matthew Shevlin hit the crossbar from Joel Cooper’s teasing cross.

Both teams traded chances before the half-time whistle as Coleraine finally took the lead on 52 minutes as Shevlin’s flick on released Cooper who bagged against his former club.

After seeing chances come and go for 2-0, a second goal duly arrived on 77 minutes when Jamie McGonigle netted with his first touches after coming on as a substitute.

Linfield did pull a goal back through Chris McKee’s penalty but Coleraine secured the points with the last kick of the game when Will Patching netted a fine effort.
