The Stripes would leave the Newry Showgrounds with all three points as Conor McKendry and Matthew Shevlin found the back of the net.

The Bannsiders would take the lead with just six minutes on the clock as McKendry’s strike from distance sailed beyond Conor Mitchell and into the net.

After Rory Brown saved from Ciaran O’Connor’s low shot, Coleraine would have a penalty saved as Jamie McGonigle was denied by Mitchell from 12 yards.

Mitchell would thwart McGonigle yet again but Coleraine did double their advantage on the half hour mark as Shevlin headed in from Jamie Glackin’s corner-kick.

Newry would have two big chances before the break but Brown palmed away O’Connor’s downward header, before Adam Salley headed over the crossbar from Georgie Poynton’s free-kick.

The second-half was a more quiet affair as McGonigle was twice denied by Mitchell, with Brown preserving his clean sheet at the other end as he blocked John McGovern’s shot.
