Match Highlights vs Portadown

HIGHLIGHTS from the Bannsiders’ draw against Portadown are now available to watch on the club’s official YouTube channel…

The Bannsiders would draw for a second successive match as Stewart Nixon’s opener was cancelled out by a smart finish from Adam Salley, who was later sent off.

In a match played in wintery conditions, the visitors should have taken the lead as delivery into the box wasn’t cleared by the Coleraine defence and Paul Finnegan was denied at close range by Martin Gallagher. At the other end, Eoin Bradley was sent clean through after a poor goal kick but his lob sailed over the bar.

Just before the half-time whistle, the Stripes should have taken the lead as Curtis Allen was one-on-one with the goalkeeper but his effort was cleared off the line by Eamonn Scannell.

The breakthrough arrived on 67 minutes as substitute Stewart Nixon scored with his second touch after coming on as he rifled the ball into the net for his fourth goal of the season. However, that lead was short lived as Portadown bagged an equaliser as Chris Lavery teed up Salley who sent a powerful strike into the top corner.

There would be late drama as Salley was dismissed for a tackle on Lyndon Kane but the Bannsiders failed to make their numerical advantage count as they were held to a draw.
