COLERAINE visit Glentoran in the Bannsiders’ final match before Christmas this evening (KO 7.45pm)…

SPORTS DIRECT PREMIERSHIP

Overview:

Coleraine made it four successive wins in all competitions last Friday night after a 2-0 success against Bangor at The Showgrounds. The Bannsiders did the damage in the first-half as Joel Cooper and Matthew Shevlin both found the back of the net to make 11 Premiership goals apiece so far this campaign. The fixture provided a competitive debut for Ryan Schofield following his move in the summer.

Glentoran were also in Friday night action as they were edged out by Larne at Inver Park. Despite a spirited performance in east Antrim, the Glens suffered a late defeat when Benji Magee fired in a late winner for the Inver Reds. Declan Devine’s men are currently 4th in the Premiership standings and they will take on Strabane Athletic away from home in the fifth round of the Clearer Water Irish Cup.

Previous Meetings:

Coleraine and Glentoran met each other at The Showgrounds back in September.

  • September 19, 2025 (SDP) – Coleraine 1 (Lyons-Foster ‘8 mins); Glentoran 2 (Stewart ’52 mins & ’69 mins)

Manager’s Thoughts:

“I think it’s a brilliant fixture, the last one before Christmas so it would be nice to go into the Christmas period with there points against a good side at a difficult venue, but we’ll go there confident and hungry to get the 3 points,” Higgins said.

“They were excellent, really good against Cliftonville the week before. If anyone deserved to win that game it was them. I know they haven’t won in a few games but they can find themselves very, very unfortunate.

“It’s this business that we’re in, you can be dominant in games and lose games but hopefully they can delay it for another week or so before turning their performances into results.”

Officials:

The match referee will be Christopher Morrison.

The assistant referees are Rachel Greer and Stephen Bell.

Shane McGonigle has been appointed as the fourth official.
