COLERAINE visit Portadown for the second time this season as the Bannsiders continue their Sports Direct Premiership schedule this afternoon (KO 3pm)…

SPORTS DIRECT PREMIERSHIP

Overview:

Coleraine picked up back-to-back victories in the Premiership last weekend after a 4-0 win against Dungannon Swifts. The success meant the Bannsiders remained top-of-the-table ahead of this weekend’s fixture schedule. Ruaidhri Higgins added to his goalkeeping department with the arrival of Lewis Webb who is eligible to feature at Shamrock Park this afternoon.

Portadown moved up to 7th in the table after an eye-catching 2-0 win against Linfield last time out. Goals from Baris Altintop and James Teelan gave the Ports a deserved victory on home soil. After being eliminated from the BetMcLean Cup, Niall Currie’s men will face Annagh United in the semi-final of the Mid-Ulster Cup next month.

Previous Meetings:

Coleraine and Portadown met each other in the Premiership back in September.

  • September 13, 2025 (SDP) – Portadown 1 (Teelan ’89 mins); Coleraine 4 (Patching ’45 mins & ’85 mins, Shevlin ’56 mins, Cooper ’66 mins)

Assistant Coach’s Thoughts:

“Portadown have a really good manager who had a bit of adversity himself with his staff leaving,” Loughrey said.

“But Niall Currie’s teams are always well set-up and we are anticipating another real tough challenge.

“We found it that way at Shamrock Park earlier on in the season but our quality in the end probably got us through it.

“We are going there expecting something very similar. They had a real go at Linfield, their confidence will be buoyed and come and have a go at us as well.

“Hopefully they do as it makes for a really good game.”

Officials:

The match referee will be Declan Hassan.

The assistant referees are Gavin Hegarty and Niall McGuinness.

Tom Symington has been appointed as the fourth official.
