McConaghie: “We needed the second goal”
DEFENDER Gareth McConaghie spoke to Coleraine TV after the Bannsiders secured their place in the Sixth Round of the Irish Cup…
The Stripes earned a 2-0 win against Glenavon courtesy of goals from Jamie Glackin and Eoin Bradley to set-up a tie with Banbridge Town in the next round.
After holding a half-time lead at Mourneview Park, the Bannsiders would find themselves under pressure for 25 minutes of the second-half, but a delighted McConaghie was pleased with the clean sheet.
Just minutes after Josh Daniels rattled the crossbar for the hosts, Coleraine would find a vital second goal through Bradley’s tiny finish and McConaghie believes that strike was important for their progression.
McConaghie – who lifted the trophy in 2018 – insists he would like to reach another final and has labelled playing with Aaron Canning ‘a joy’.
