McGonigle called up to Northern Ireland Under-21 squad

COLERAINE striker Jamie McGonigle has been called-up to the Northern Ireland Under-21 squad to face Albania and Slovakia…

The club’s top scorer last season has already been in fine form to the start of the new campaign after notching two goals in the opening four Danske Bank Premiership fixtures.

Iain Baraclough’s side will take on Albania at Mourneview Park on Thursday evening (August 31), before the trip to Senica on September 5. Northern Ireland made a winning start to their qualification campaign with a 2-1 win over Estonia – a game which McGonigle earned his first cap.

Coleraine midfielder Ciaron Harkin was also called-up to the squad but had to withdraw after a pre-arranged trip to America clashed with international duty.

The Club congratulate Jamie for his call-up and it means the striker will miss the BetMcLean.com League Cup tie against Larne and the Danske Bank Premiership fixture against Glenavon.
