McGonigle returns

COLERAINE FC is thrilled to announce the signing of Jamie McGonigle on a three-and-a-half year contract…

The striker returns to The Showgrounds for a second spell after previously amassing 179 appearances and scoring 65 times in the process.

McGonigle was a part of the Coleraine team who won the Irish Cup in 2018 and he was named in the NIFWA Team of the Year in that very same campaign.

In 2019, the Dungiven native would sign for Crusaders before moving to Derry City in June 2021.

McGonigle would add to his medal haul at The Brandywell as he scored in the FAI Cup win against Shelbourne in 2022.

Speaking to colerainefc.com, Coleraine boss Oran Kearney knows his latest recruit has all the attributes to help the club find the back of the net more often.

“We have spoken quite a bit about how the injury to Matthew Shevlin has hurt us in terms of scoring goals this season,” he said.

“We’re creating chances at present and it’s important we start putting the ball into the back of the net which Jamie can do.

“We said it in the summer that we need to add more goals and Jamie certainly has the pedigree to do that.

“Jamie was eager to come back to the club when we expressed our interest and that was really refreshing.”

The Club can confirm that McGonigle will wear the number 19 shirt for the rest of the campaign.
