COLERAINE are on their travels this evening as they face Glenavon at Mourneview Park (KO 8pm)…
Danske Bank Premiership
The Bannsiders were thwarted in their efforts last weekend to secure back-to-back wins in the Danske Bank Premiership after a scoreless draw against Institute. However, Oran Kearney’s men ensured their name would be in the hat for the third round of the BetMcLean.com League Cup after a 4-0 win against Annagh United. As for Glenavon, they were beaten by Dungannon Swifts on league duty, but responded to earn a League Cup victory against Portstewart in midweek.
The Bannsiders failed to register a win against the Lurgan Blues in four fixtures last season. The first was back in October 2018 as Stephen Murray’s hat-trick was a catalyst in a 4-1 win on the Ballycastle Road, before Glenavon scored another four goals in a victory back in December. The third clash was a more tight affair as Niall Grace’s superb effort meant both sides had to settle for a share of the spoils, with the final meeting also ending in a 1-1 draw.
Coleraine boss Oran Kearney will be without the services of Eoin Bradley through suspension, as well as defenders Gareth McConaghie and Aaron Traynor through injury. However, there is a return for James McLaughlin after a three-match ban and latest recruits Aaron Jarvis, Nedas Maciulaitis and Martin Gallagher are expected to be named in the matchday squad.
“It will be a really tough game and for both teams, it will be our third game in six days,” Kearney said.
“Obviously, having Eoin Bradley and James McLaughlin away against Annagh United people were worried about where the goals were going to come from.
“It is great that Ian Parkhill weighed in with goals but obviously it will be great to have James back and at it.”
Admission has been set at £12 adults, £8 concessions.
As ever, those unable to attend can follow the latest developments from the fixture via the club’s official Twitter account (@ColeraineFC).
