Mentoring Programme

COLERAINE FC is delighted to welcome children and staff from a Football Mentoring Programme at this Friday night’s fixture against Larne…

The Rangers Soccer Academy – which meets from 7pm to 10pm each evening for 12 to 17 year olds at Coleraine University over a period of 12 weeks – is hosted by the Causeway Coast and Glens PSNI in conjunction with Rangers Football Club.

Despite providing weekly football activities, the mentoring programme also caters for children to learn about diversity, respect for different cultures and an understanding of religious backgrounds.

Constable Jonathan McKeever, who is PSNI Liason at the Soccer Academy, revealed that everyone is looking forward to the big clash on the Ballycastle Road.

“We are delighted that Coleraine FC has kindly invited the children to this Friday’s game against Larne,” he said.

“We would like to thank Coleraine FC who are reaching out to the local community with a number of initiatives as they instil the message ‘Our community your club’.

“The children are looking forward to a big game under the lights and it is pleasing to see the hard work of everyone at the Soccer Academy being recognised.”

Coleraine Chairman, Colin McKendry, insists community involvement is at the forefront of the club’s efforts.

“I have been made aware of the hard work at the Soccer Academy and we are pleased to welcome the children and staff as our guests on Friday night,” he said.

“Coleraine is a club at the centre of our community and we are proud of our close links with numerous organisations, clubs and groups.

“We can’t wait to see all the young people at The Showgrounds on Friday night and I’m sure they will be vocal in their support for Oran and the players.”
