Mini pre-season for next two weeks: OK

ORAN Kearney admitted it was a “big relief” when Jamie McGonigle’s goal hit the back of the net during yesterday’s 1-0 win at home to Glenavon…

The striker would net an 89th-minute winner to end a recent run of successive defeats as he latched onto Lee Lynch’s through ball to force a way beyond Gareth Deane.

Kearney said he was “confident” that McGonigle was going to score and he was delighted to see the striker get off the mark in his second spell at the club.

The boss also commented on Rory Brown’s first clean sheet since arriving at The Showgrounds and believes the shot stopper “stepped up to the mark”, as well as Gareth Deane who was making his first appearance since returning to the Ballycastle Road.

With Coleraine not in action next weekend, Kearney said the next two weeks will be like a mini pre-season to get several players up to speed.
