Narrow Defeat

COLERAINE Ladies went down to a narrow 3-2 defeat against high flying Ballymacash on Thursday…

The visitors sit second in the table but were made to fight all the way to secure the points.

Abby Alexander got the Bannsiders off to a dream start at the University, scoring after just three minutes.

But a three goal blitz in the space of five minutes had Alison Nicholl’s side stunned.

“It was a real lapse in concentration and it cost us,” admitted player manager Nicholl.

But Coleraine rallied well after the break and were the better side.

Darian McVicker grabbed her first goal for the club from Alexander’s cross to reduce the arrears.

Alexander went close to equalising, although it took a stunning stop from home ‘keeper Cerys Sharkey to deny Ballymacash a fourth.

Despite their best efforts Coleraine just couldn’t find an equaliser their efforts merited.

“I’m the end I’m disappointed we didn’t take something from the game for the effort the girls put in,” added Alison.

Next up is a trip to Armagh next Wednesday.

The Ladies would like to thank Daniel Strickland, of Ashgrove Conservatories, for sponsoring ball.

Meanwhile, there are birthday wishes to twin sisters Abby and Megan Alexander who turns 18 today.
