Nixon joins the Bannsiders

COLERAINE FC is delighted to announce the signing of Stewart Nixon on a three-and-a-half year deal…

The attacker signs from Carrick Rangers and becomes Oran Kearney’s second arrival of the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old has previous Irish League experience with Ballymena United and helped Carrick Rangers gain promotion to the Danske Bank Premiership.

Coleraine boss Oran Kearney was pleased to secure the services of a player he has tracked over the last few years.

“It has taken a few days to get the deal over the line but we are pleased to sign Stewart on a three-and-a-half year deal,” he added.

“He is a player we have tracked for a long period of time and we feel he is at the right stage of his career to make the move.

“He’s had a tough apprenticeship coming through the Championship and he’s earned his stripes in the Premier League over the last year-and-a-half.”

Meanwhile, striker Alexander Gawne will move in the other direction on a six-month loan deal.

“Alex will go on loan in the direction to get valuable minutes and and match time.”

An interview will be published with our new signing in the coming days.
