MATTHEW Shevlin credited the Bannsiders’ “professional” second-half performance as they beat Portadown at Shamrock Park…

Goals from Shevlin himself and Joel Cooper sealed the 2-0 victory in the Orchard County.

Shevlin admitted the first-half was tough for the Stripes but the turning point came when Ports stopper Aaron McCarey was dismissed for an off-the-ball incident.

The striker then managed to break the deadlock via a header – a goal he acknowledged that won’t be the most memorable effort he’s ever scored.

Linfield are up next on Tuesday night and Shevlin is calling on another vocal backing from the stands at The Showgrounds.
