Greg O’Dowd is on his way back to Coleraine!

The Dubliner was a hugely popular figure during his stay at the Showgrounds in the 90’s.

He scored 14 times in 87 appearances after initially signing a month’s loan from Shamrock Rovers.

He won the First Division title under Kenny Shiels as well as the Ulster Cup and Irish News Cup.

O’Dowd was part of the team that finished second behind Crusaders in the Premier League and scored a stunner in Europe against Grasshoppers of Zurich.

And he is returning as a guest of the club for the game with Linfield on January 29.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be coming back,” said Greg.

“You honestly made my day when you asked if I would like to come up for a game!

“Everyone knows I still follow the club’s results every week,” added the physiotherapist.

“It’s just a pity the late Robbie Brunton isn’t still with us to make the trip too.

“I will bring my family with me and make a weekend off it.

“It’s a fantastic gesture and I’m delighted to have the chance to meet up with some old friends.”
