Official Coleraine Podcast: S2 E10

THE Official Coleraine Podcast is delighted to welcome our first ever female guest on the show as Lauren Wade swapped the bright lights of Wembley for a zoom call with our panellists…

In a conversation with Damian Mullan and Johnny McNabb, Lauren discusses her love for football at an early age as her grandfather Hugh was the former chairman at the club, before revealing she developed faster by playing against boys up until the age of 14.

The former Dunluce pupil reflects on a scholarship in America, the move to Iceland, and playing for Glasgow City, where she scored a memorable goal in the Champions League.

The 27-year-old has since returned home and signed for Glentoran and the medals certainly didn’t dry up last year as Lauren secured the domestic treble last term.

However, it is on the international scene that the Northern Ireland girls have impressed as they secured an historic debut at next year’s European Championships and Lauren admits they will be training full-time in the build-up to the games.

The trio also reflect on a good week for Oran Kearney’s men as they sealed a 2-0 win against Portadown and look ahead to the games against Carrick Rangers and Glentoran.
