OK praise as Lowry moves on

COLERAINE FC can confirm that long-serving midfielder Stephen Lowry will be leaving the club this summer…

The 37-year-old departs The Showgrounds after amassing 373 appearances for the club and scoring on 44 occasions.

Lowry helped the Bannsiders win the BetMcLean Cup in 2020 and was a part of the Coleraine squad that sealed famous wins in the Europa League against La Fiorita and Maribor.

In recent times, the Limavady man has combined playing duties with being a first-team coach on the Ballycastle Road, with his experience helping a host of the club’s up and coming stars.

Coleraine boss Oran Kearney remarked how Lowry has been an almost-ever present figure during his time as a manager.

“We would like to thank Stephen for his two stints at the club,” he said.

“Stephen has been there for a huge part of my management career and he’s been a brilliant servant.

“How he has kept his body to keep producing top performances at the age of 37 is great testament to him and he’s been the ultimate professional.

“I wish Stephen nothing but the best for the future.”
