Kearney cited Linfield’s strong start in the opening 20 minutes as Stephen Fallon’s early effort gave the visitors the lead on the Ballycastle Road.

After describing the first-half performance as ‘lacklustre’, Kearney heaped praise on his players for their energy levels in the second-half and revealed it would have been a ‘lovely end’ to the game had James McLaughlin converted from close range.

Canning’s goal was his third of the season and the manager insists it is important that all areas of the park weigh in with goals, before revealing that a fitness check will be given on Ben Doherty who had to be removed with a hamstring complaint.
