The Bannsiders secured a spot in the quarter-final of the League Cup as second-half goals from Jamie Glackin and Ben Doherty sealed a 2-1 success against Glentoran.

However, with a 2-0 lead and against 10-men, Glentoran forced their way back into the contest as substitute Navid Nasseri ensured there would be a grandstand finish as he scored with his first touch of the game, with Jonny Frazer also having a goal disallowed for offside.

Kearney explained that he decided to give Aaron Traynor a rest as the defender has only recently returned to action, as well as giving his views on this weekend’s home clash against Warrenpoint Town.
