Perfect Ten

COLERAINE Academy under 16’s made it ten league wins on the spin with a convincing victory over Warrenpoint Town at Rugby Avenue…

Coleraine Academy U16’s 5-0 Warrenpoint Town

Coleraine were given an early blow when the unfortunate Riley got injured in the warm up and had to miss the game. This fortunately didn’t effect the team too much. Coleraine started well and created a number of chances early on but couldn’t convert. Midway through the half, the hosts opened the scoring and scored three goals in a 10 minute period.

The first came from a well delivered corner from Raff Mackay that fell for Conal Houston and he hammered home from 8 yards. Five minutes later, the lead was doubled as Carter Mullan got down the right side and delivered a good cross for the on rushing Kirk Mc Laughlin to finish well. Shortly after it was 3-0 when Carter Mullan ran on to a through ball and shot low into the bottom corner.

Just before half time, Lewis Tosh was very unlucky not to make it 4-0 when he ran from his own half beating four men and firing a great effort towards goal that clipped the crossbar on its way over.

Coleraine started the second-half on the front foot and were looking to add to their lead and they did just that. Lewis Tosh finishing well after the Warrenpoint goalkeeper had made a few blocks from the initial efforts. Alex Henderson in the Coleraine goal was called into action when a well taken free kick from Warrenpoint forced him into a good save.

Coleraine created more openings but it took until five minutes from time for them to add their fifth goal of the afternoon as ConalHouston got his second of the afternoon with a header from Raff Mackay’s corner.

We wish Warrenpoint Town well for the remainder of the season.
