COLERAINE Women played out a tense and hard-fought encounter against a youthful and very well organised Ballynahinch Olympic side last night…
The test required a few enforced chances at full back but Tina Connor and Emma Diamond performed admirably against a vibrant attack.
Ballynahinch edged a hard fought first half and led at the break. However, Coleraine began the second half on the front foot and a back and forth game was changed when the versatile Lucy Hollies and teen squad of Faye Colley, Norah McCullough and Holly Burrows entered the fray.
The Bannsiders earned a late equaliser after a well worked corner and a finish from Colley.
Shairee McVey and Beth Grant led from back and Aoife McAteer in goals was assured all evening, whilst Samantha Miskimmon, Chelsea Moore, Katie Agnew, Zara Corrigan, Cara McCloskey and Shannon Friel probed all evening and showed resilience throughout.
A hard-earned but well-deserved point to keep our unbeaten start to a tough league.
