DEAN Shiels says his players want to overcome the final hurdle by ensuring a top-six finish for the post-split fixtures…

Speaking in his pre-match interview, Shiels started by reflecting on Tuesday night’s draw at home to Cliftonville, labelling it as “a really good performance” by his players and that they drove to the end to try and get all three points.

Despite knowing a point against Portadown on Saturday will guarantee a top-six finish, Shiels stated that it is “a must-win game” as they want to prolong their momentum which has been gained in the last six weeks.

Shiels revealed that Jamie McGonigle is currently struggling with a knee injury, with Kyle Spence also set for a spell on the sidelines after coming off on Tuesday night.

The head coach also called on the home support to continue to get behind the players as they can make all the difference.
