Q&A with Brian McClair

COLERAINE FC is delighted to announce an exciting Q&A event with former Manchester United player Brian McClair…

The Scotsman will be presenting awards to all Academy age groups on Friday, May 24, before telling stories from his career and answering questions in the Social Club from 8pm.

The 55-year-old started his career on the books of Aston Villa before joining Motherwell and it was at Fir Park he rose to prominence after netting against Old Firm rivals Rangers and Celtic.

That resulted in a switch to Parkhead, where McClair would lift a Scottish league title and Scottish Cup. In 1987, McClair joined Manchester United and he booked his place in the annals of Old Trafford history when he became the first player since George Best to score 20 league goals for the Reds.

Under Sir Alex Ferguson, McClair achieved his league title ambition with United in 1993 and won the club’s first Double in 1994 when, as a substitute, he scored the last goal in the FA Cup Final win over Chelsea. Prior to leaving in 1998, McClair won another Double in 1996 and another title in 1997.

McClair would spend nine years as a Director of the Youth Academy at Old Trafford, prior to being appointed by the Scottish Football Association in February 2015 as their national performance director.

Entry for the Q&A event will be £5 with all proceeds going towards the Bannsiders’ participation in this year’s SuperCup NI tournament.

Those who are interested in attending will be made most welcome, with those looking for further information being urged to contact: Roberta Graham (07843 491306).
