Red Warning

COLERAINE will be wanting to put the disappointment of crashing out of the Irish Cup behind them as they face Cliftonville at Solitude tomorrow afternoon (KO 3pm)…

The Bannsiders’ hold of the Irish Cup trophy ended last time out as two penalties from David Cushley and Jordan Owens sent Crusaders into the final next month. As for the Reds, they sealed a late win over Glentoran as Ryan Curran struck at the death to earn all three points for Paddy McLaughlin’s men. The North Belfast side currently occupy 5th spot in the table – three points ahead of the Stripes.

This will be the fourth meeting between the two sides this season, with the option of a fifth due to the European play-off fixtures. The first was back in August as Aaron Burns’ double earned a 2-1 at Solitude, before the Reds reversed that scoreline at The Showgrounds in October. The final clash was back on New Year’s Day and goals from Eoin Bradley, Stephen Lowry, Aaron Canning and James McLaughlin helped ease Coleraine to victory.

Bannsiders boss Rodney McAree will be without the services of Aaron Traynor, Lyndon Kane, Alexander Gawne and Aaron Burns for the fixture through injury. There is a further blow as defender Aaron Canning must sit out through suspension after collecting five yellow cards.

As ever, those unable to attend can follow the latest updates via the club’s official Twitter account (@ColeraineFC).
