Redevelopment Project

COLERAINE FC have today released a statement regarding the Regeneration Project…

The statement reads: “Building on the recent successes of the team, the Club are progressing their ambitious plans to develop a modern fit for purpose stadium at the Showgrounds.

“Since launching the proposed development plans, re-establishment of the NI Executive has now opened up the opportunity to seek substantial funding from the Department of Communities that would enable the delivery of the overall development.

“The timescale for the Department’s stadium programme is likely to require some rephasing of the project from that previously envisaged but it is worth spending some more time now to secure this additional funding that would enable improved spectator facilities to be developed along with the new pitch.

“In the mean time much is being done. The Club has now established a Trust with the necessary expertise to take forward the project. Investigative work on the new pitch is progressing.

“The  Club also wish to ensure that they maximise the benefit to the local community and believe that the new stadium can become an economic and social hub and the catalyst for regeneration and investment in the surrounding area.

“Further discussions are proposed with the Council in relation to their future intentions for the leisure facilities in the Borough and with the Department of Communities in relation to wider regeneration initiatives in the Ballycastle Road, Railway Street, Lodge Road area.

“Fundraising efforts will be  stepped up in the near future to ensure the club has the necessary financial commitments in place to match government funding.

“It is anticipated in the near future, subject to the present guidelines a gala evening to launch the fundraising efforts will be held.”
