Rematch ‘a different kettle of fish’: Higgins
RUAIDHRI Higgins insists he is expecting a totally different game this time around as Coleraine and Crusaders square off for the second time in eight days…
The Bannsiders progressed to the sixth-round of the Clearer Water Irish Cup at Crusaders’ expense last Friday night as they hit four second half goals to set-up a meeting with Carrick Rangers next month.
Despite creating several chances to open the scoring in the first half, Coleraine’s cause was aided by the dismissal of Brendan Hamilton just minutes after the restart.
Whilst the 4-0 scoreline looked favourable for Coleraine – Higgins is aware of the quality possessed within Crusaders’ ranks and that he will warn his players not to be complacent.
“We haven’t done anything as a team to disrespect anyone and we certainly won’t disrespect Crusaders,” he said.
“If you look at their last league game, they beat Dungannon who were the in-form team in the league at that point.
“Crusaders have smashing players…at 0-0 I think we were the team in the ascendancy but the sending off definitely had a big impact on the game.
“They had to try and come out a small bit after we scored so we were able to open them up.
“This is going to be a completely different kettle of fish and there will no complacency from us.
“We’ll give them the utmost respect as they deserve and we’ll do everything to try and win the game.”
Coleraine have added Mark Connolly, Mark Coyle, Ben Wylie and James Akintunde to their squad this month and Higgins isn’t expecting too many more arrivals.
He explained: “I would imagine a few would leave the club.
“Three have left permanently and I’m sure a few others will leave before the end of the window.
“Not sure about incomings – would be one, if any.
“Now at a point where we’re content and happy with the group.”
