Rodney relishing Oval test

THE season has not long finished but already Coleraine are back in pre season training…

But you won’t find recent singing Rodney Brown complaining about the short summer break.

Brown is loving life back at Ballycastle Road and relishing tomorrow’s test against Glentoran at the Oval, followed by Tuesday’s trip to Larne.

“With all three clubs preparing for Europe these games make sense and we know what kind of test we will get from them,” said Rodney.

After a four and a half year stint at Crusaders, the versatile Kells man pulled on a Coleraine shirt for the first time again at Portstewart last weekend.

“It’s always good to get that first game under your belt again.

“Portstewart are a decent side. It was fiesty enough for a friendly and great to get 90 minutes.”

Brown has settled in quickly on his return and admits a two week break from action was long enough for him.

“The days of getting the summer off are long gone.

“Of course things are very different now and hopefully we will get back to normal.

“But I was excited to get started again. Everyone has made me feel welcome  and it’s as if I was never away.”

The talented defender will use the upcoming Glentoran and Larne games to try and impress manager Oran Kearney.

“I’ve really been enjoying training. The intensity is unreal.

“I’m just getting my head down and working hard and hopefully that’s enough to get me in the starting 11 against FC Velez Mostar.”
