Semi-final at stake

COLERAINE will look to seal a spot in the semi-final of the Eventsec North-West Cup as they take on Dergview at The Showgrounds (KO 7:45pm)…

The Bannsiders clinched their first win under Rodney McAree at the weekend as Gareth McConaghie’s free-kick was enough to overcome Crusaders on the Ballycastle Road. As for the visitors, they were rocked by Peter Allen’s decision to resign as manager over the weekend. The County Tyrone side have lost their last seven league games in succession and currently occupy 10th position in the Bluefin Sport Championship table.

The two sides met in pre-season action on the North Coast with the Bannsiders running out 8-0 winners. Talented midfielder Matthew Kirk joined Dergview on loan from the Stripes until January and he has been an ever present figure since arriving. Due to a heavy fixture load and injuries, the Stripes are set to give the younger players at the club a chance to shine this evening, as well as first-team players to get some game time.

Admission prices have been set by the North-West FA as £6 adults and £4 concessions. The other quarter-final fixtures see Portstewart taking on Institute, Limavady hosting Moyola Park and Ballinamallard facing Ardstraw.

As ever, those unable to attend can follow the latest updates via the club’s official Twitter account (@ColeraineFC).
