SENAN Devine took time out from his schedule to spend several hours at St John’s Primary School in Coleraine recently…
The talented Coleraine man shared his inspiring football journey and discussed life playing for the Bannsiders and Northern Ireland with the school’s Key Stage 2 children.
The children then had the opportunity to play a football match with Senan and compete in a penalty shootout against him.
The day proved to be a fantastic learning opportunity for the children to learn about dedication and teamwork on and off the pitch.
Speaking about Senan’s visit, Mr C. Burns said: “It was so lovely to welcome our former pupil Senan back to St John’s for an inspirational talk about his sporting journey.
“Senan was fondly remembered in St John’s as a super student, fantastic footballer and a wonderful friend. It was amazing to see the fine young man Senan has grown into.
“He delivered an action-packed presentation to our KS 2 children, detailing his journey to signing professional terms with Coleraine FC and his achievements with the different SuperCupNI teams and Northern Ireland teams he has been involved with.
“Senan spoke about balancing his studies with his sporting life, his diet and sleep requirements and the fact that he has to make sacrifices to achieve all his goals. Senan finished his talk with a Q & A which was very insightful.
“Senan then took the children outside and played a fun football game with them….finishing with a penalty shoot-out. We can confirm that Senan has no future as a goalkeeper!
“After signing autographs, we all wished Senan every success in his exams and his footballing future.”
