Shevlin hopes it’s third time lucky

COLERAINE striker Matthew Shevlin insists Sunday’s BetMcLean League Cup final will probably be the biggest match of his career…

The 23-year-old will be hoping to lead the line against Paddy McLaughlin’s side as the two teams lock horns for the first major silverware of the season at Windsor Park.

Shevlin, who tasted defeat in two finals with Ballymena United in the competition, is hoping to finally get his hands on the trophy and has discussed his run of form in the League Cup that has saw him score six times in four matches this term.

The former Linfield striker admits he watched the Bannsiders’ success against Crusaders back in 2020 and hopes to recreate similar memories this time around, as well as reinforcing the importance of a strong vocal backing from fans.
