COLERAINE FC was delighted to play its part as The Showgrounds hosted fixtures during the UEFA Women’s U17 European Championships…

In total, six group stage games were held at the Ballycastle Road from May 4 to 11 as some of Europe’s brightest young talents took to the pitch.

Speaking about the club being trusted to host games for such a prestigious tournament, Chief Executive Officer, Dale Pryde-MacDonald, said: “It was fantastic for the club being selected to host matches of such an important tournament.

“The collaborative work ethic of club staff, IFA staff and UEFA delegates made for a great 10 days where strong relationships were built and the club was exposed to some brilliant best practice that we can take forward.

“I have to personally thank Aline Sys of UEFA and Jordan Reid of the IFA who were an incredible support to me across the tournament and people who have such an excellent way of bringing people together to deliver.

“The tournament has really shown the capabilities of our people and club where we now know that we can deliver top level football events, albeit with some learnings to implement.

“Again, I extend my sincere thanks to all involved from UEFA and the IFA for their trust, encouragement and support in utilising Coleraine FC for the tournament.”
