Skipper Stays
STEPHEN O’Donnell has become the latest player to commit his long-term future to the club…
The club captain has signed a three-and-a-half year contract to remain at The Showgrounds until the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
O’Donnell joined the club in the summer of 2017 and has made a total of 196 appearances, lifting the Irish Cup and BetMcLean Cup during his time on the Ballycastle Road.
The central defender has also appeared in European competition – including the memorable wins against La Fiorita and Maribor.
The latest development has pleased boss Oran Kearney, who labelled the 30-year-old as a major influence both on and off the pitch.
“When players enter their 30’s, it is often the case that they are only offered one-year deals but we have never been that club,” he said.
“Stevie is someone we trust and is an important person and pillar.
“Stevie has consistently played at a high level since arriving here and he’s been a major part of our recent good form.
“As club captain, he certainly comes to the fore both on and off the pitch and we are delighted with this news.”
