Skipper Stays

COLERAINE FC is pleased to announce that Stephen O’Donnell has extended his stay at The Showgrounds…

The club captain has put pen-to-paper on a two-year extension that sees his contract run out at the end of the 2022-23 season.

O’Donnell arrived at the club in May 2017 and helped the Bannsiders lift the Irish Cup in his first full season before also collecting the BetMcLean League Cup back in February of this year.

The ex-Institute man has made 95 appearances for the club and found the back of the net on six occasions.

Coleraine boss Oran Kearney believes that his captain ‘epitomises’ what the club is all about.

“We are delighted that Stephen has agreed a new deal,” he said.

“He is our captain and he’s now hitting the age where he will be coming into his prime.

“He epitomises what the club is about both on and off the pitch and he has a hunger to do well this season after suffering a calf injury during the last campaign.

“Stephen is a big personality and he leads by example and the news is brilliant for everyone concerned.”
