RUAIDHRI Higgins says last season’s exploits are now history as the Bannsiders get ready for the 26/27 BOYLE Sports Premiership campaign…

Coleraine had a successful season last time out as Higgins’ men finished second in the Premiership, qualified for Europe and won the Irish Cup.

However, Higgins says those achievements have been now put to the past as they aim for more success over the next ten months.

“Last season is now history,” Higgins added.

“It’s gone now and we will be judged on this season coming.

“What’s happened in the past, certainly in my head, is in the past.

“We have to move on and there’s always something better you can achieve and that’s what we have to strive for.

“We have to attack the season with real professionalism and work extremely hard to achieve what we want to achieve.”

As fate would have it, Coleraine start their domestic campaign versus a side they ended last season’s against.

The Bannsiders are on their travels to Dungannon Swifts this afternoon and Higgins is fully aware of the threat they possess.

He said: “We’re really excited that the first of 38 games is here.

“But we know Dungannon Swifts are a really good side, they’ve real strength in depth and we watched them at the weekend.

“They’ve played in really big matches in recent times, so it’s a really tough first fixture.

“However, we want to go there, stamp our authority on the game and try to win it.”
